youros records what happens on its servers, under your account's id. It
never records what you type, read or open, and never your IP address.

## What is recorded

Each event is one line, with its time, your account's id, the device's
key, and the country the network reports:

- a device connecting to the relay and leaving it, how long it stayed,
  whether it was a browser or a machine, and how many bytes the relay
  passed on for it;
- a pairing waited on, met, finished, or failed, and why it failed;
- how a session reached a machine: directly, with the kind of route each
  end found (such as "host" or "srflx", never its address), and how long
  it took; or through the relay;
- your first steps: a tool opened, the install line copied, a first
  terminal;
- sharing, once you can share: a grant made, used or taken back, and the
  account it names;
- a fresh address handed out.

These are kept for now, with no end date. They are used to make youros
work better, find faults, and know what it costs to run.

The relay also keeps totals, such as "12 accounts in week 43 in Germany".
A total split by country, under 5, is shown only as "under 5".

## What is never kept

- Your IP address, or any address a connection uses.
- Your browser's name or version, beyond "a browser".
- What you type, read or open. Your sessions are sealed end to end, and the
  relay sees only where a sealed frame goes.

Cloudflare, which runs the network, sees your IP address to deliver the
traffic, as any host does. We do not keep it.

## No cookies, and no banner

No page sets a cookie, and nothing is read from your device's storage to
record you. An event names the device by the key it already shows the
relay each time it connects. So there is nothing to agree to, and no
banner.
